||IT WORKS!
In the least scientific tape deck repair job ever, I ripped off the cover, shook it around, bashed the corner that holds the transformer onto the floor a few times, and lo, the whole thing worked. I got to mix down a bunch of stuff yesterday and today. Here's my favorite chunk so far, a snippet of a beat from a song about nanites on the Pentacost.
